It seems there is an issue with SigmaTel HD Audio and asio output. Maybe this should be a sticky topic? I really really hope there is a solution to this problem. I've fiddled with the settings such as forcing 16 bit etc. but to no avail.
here's the dump from your utility program

Never mind, I fixed it. Simply go to the control panel; select Sigmatel codec ->properties->properties again and choose midi devices->wdm based devices and unclick the use midi option.

Update: Output is available, Microphone input is available but not line input! Sigmatel onboard sound has some kind of jack-sense feature that 'figures out' when a line input is plugged in versus the rear speaker or something. Since we're using the asio4all driver, maybe this feature no longer happens?? When vsthost runs, only 2 out of 8 channels show activity.
p.s. I apologise for the triple post.

Hi Thanks so much for the tip about switching off the "use midi settings in properites" on my STHDA card. Now Xp is able to release the card from using other software so i can boot up Ableton Live 7.1 or Reason 4.0 with out any problems.
All the best
Paul
