well i've been using win7, really great OS, MUCH BETTER than vista of course, but regarding sound issues, well, same as vista unfortenately. i miss xp but too late now, maybe ill just buy an audio interface if it solves the problem.
What Michael said is that, by design, ASIO bypasses kmixer (Windows audio mixer) and thus only one application can take control of the audio interface at the same time. Then it's not a problem of whichever OS you pick (XP, Vista, 7), rather a "feature" of ASIO.
Windows 7 doesnt have the same limit as Vista, moron !
It all depends your music software.
In windows 7 you can have lots of apps sharing the soundcard, in so called WASAPI mode.
Like if you want to play keyboard, guitar and play music at the same time.
Windows 7 - 4 ever !
I love kids these days. WASAPI (Windows Audio Session API) is the API used by windows Vista *and* 7 (surprised?) for audio mixing and stuff. But in order for ASIO4ALL to achieve the lowest latency possible, WASAPI has to be in "exclusive" mode, which sends only one stream of audio to the soundboard, ignoring the rest.
hello, i just got a new hp...it has windows 7 andi guess an integrated sound card..... i downloaded the asio 2.9 english driver to fix latency i was experiencing with my axiom 25 key midi controller in ableton live.... this usually works but on this new computer when i switch to the asio driver.... no sound comes out.... the levels boost like its picking me up but no sound coming out of the speakers.... how can i fix this... thank you
