HI. As many other people I also have a problem with the output, I don’t have any sound. I can record, but I can play it back if I use ASIO4ALL. I have read a lot of forums explaining things about the MS GS Wavetable could be the problem, and then some solutions. Couldn’t figure out how to fix it. I backed up my registry and deleted the MS GS Wavetable. I used this guide to find the MS GS Wavetable pcaudiohelp.com/how-to-change-the-default-midi-device-in-vista-and-window-7/ I was sure that when MS GS was deleted The ASIO4ALL red cross over Realtek HD Audio output would disappear. But nothing change, I still don’t get any sound. Is the MS GS not the problem then? Or doesn’t it make a difference to delete MS GS like that? What is my next step? What can I do?

You didn't need to delete it, you just disable it in the ableton MIDI settings. Now if its done it's no harm that those terrible sounds are gone. I did it in cakewalk though. Options, MIDI out devices, toggle the cross on ms gs wavetable. But there might be other reasons that you have no playback in realtek. I read in this forum eg. that the option "play the device" in the driver in-out list must remain unchecked because it will cause the reproduction channels being owned by windows. It's so misleading when it reads "use this device" it means input is routed to output and output will hence not be available for asio. Open the realtek driver Choose mic/line in Toggle button right beside second slider. If nothing else helps you can always buy a 10$ usb soundstick that will instantly be available in asio4all. Or be used as output for other running audio applications.

Hey. Thank you so much for u reply. I had given up on the problem, but tried again after I saw your post! I found out that I had MS GS turned on under a “track” menu in ableton live, it was hidden in the bottom of the menu bar. So actually I was a little stupid! But thank you for having me give it another try! Its working now
