Sorry, I posted this in the "problems" forum too, somehow I skipped over the "bugs" forum. I'm pretty sure this classifies as a bug.
The thread title says it, basically. When ASIO4ALL is installed, the midi ports on my Avid/M-Audio Fast Track Pro cease to work. The blinking lights on the hardware do show midi coming in when I connect something, but the midi never reaches whatever application I'm using (I've tried Ableton, Sonar X3, Cantabile, Forte and MidiOX). Whether or not I'm actually USING ASIO4ALL doesn't make a difference. Even if I have my M-Audio ASIO driver selected, which I always have when connected, no midi. uninstalling ASIO4ALL instantly returns my midi functionality.
I always use my M-Audio in a live situation, with my laptop, but sometimes it's nice to sit on the couch with my laptop and do a mix on headphones, or play with Maschine. ASIO4ALL is great for this. Oh and my maschine midi ports work fine while ASIO4ALL is installed by the way.
I realize this is free software and quite possibly/likely there is some issue with the latest driver for my Fast Track Pro (6.1.10) because I don't recall this problem from the years before that I used both, but I thought it quirky enough that someone might want to look into it.
