In that case, you haven't been using ASIO4ALL in either situation. I wasn't using it with XP. I have a latency problem with 7 when playing live, ie I talk in the mic and the audio coming out of the computer comes later. I was told asio would help with that. It didn't.

ASIO4ALL doesn´t turn up in iTunes or Foobar, should it? I was told to get this driver by the guy in the store where i bought my Cambridge DAC. (Yes, all I want for the moment is to run my lossless audio files bitperfect to the DAC) He said the kmixer soundcard driver would mess with the bitstream, and that ASIO4ALL would bypass my soundcard+kmixer, and link the bitstream directly to the USB port. The DAC would replace the soundcard. I found differing opinions regarding the impact of kmixer on sound quality, skeptics saying it´s merely comparable to changing signal cables. Since doing just that made a great improvement, I decided to try and bypass my internal soundcard. After reading up I realize this doesn´t seem to be the purpose of ASIO, but still I wonder: can ASIO4ALL do this and if so how do I activate/configure it from inside Foobar or iTunes? It doesn´t show up in any of the menus, nor in the system tray. I run XP Best regards, Johan

In order to be able to use ASIO, you need an ASIO output plugin for your media player. There exists one for Foobar, but I have absolutely no idea as far as iTunes.

MediaMonkey asio install. Downloaded latest asio4all ASIO4ALL_2_10_beta1_English.exe www.asio4all.com/Downloaded out_asio(dll)_067.7z from otachan.com/out_asio%28dll%29.htmlExtracted out_asio(dll)_067.7z with winrar into a folder In the bin folder copied the dll from the sse2 folder out_asio(dll).dll But this file in MM plugins folder. Open MM Tools\Options\Output plug_ins Select Asio Close MM Install asio4all ASIO4ALL_2_10_beta1_English.exe into default directory Restarted computer Open MM go back to output plugins. Make sure asio selected. Click configure. Device tab should see asio4all v2 select it. For me I also unselected gapless because it gave me problems. Save and restart MM. Now you should see a icon in your toolbar. Open Asio configure and select what you need for me it was Music Streamer + This is what worked for me. Hope it helps someone. Good Luck

I had the same problem while wanting to use Cubase.
After installing ASIO, then starting Cubase, I got the message that audio would not be recorded.
Then a friend told me
Devices->device setup->vst audio system
now it works

Hi all,
Doesn't work for me...
But I think I understand why :
I bought a Tascam US-100 (USB 2), to enter my guitar or bass directly. The latency simply turns this device useless.
So I installed Asio, but no luck...
This device has absolutely no driver at all. It's recognized by Windows (7) as a USB generic sound card (simple speaker and mic, actually). So I think the problem I have is I can't tell Windows 7 to use the Asio driver in place of the generic driver...
Do you think this is the situation ?
Do you know how to find a workaround ?
Thanks in advance, Lars

So I think the problem I have is I can't tell Windows 7 to use the Asio driver in place of the generic driver... You have to tell your ASIO host application. Windows 7 isn't particularly interested in that kind of information. What is your ASIO host application?

Okay, I did the Winamp trick to have the Asio appear. It appears now, I can select my USB interface, but the input is "in use by another program" . Need to find out this one now...

Hi again, I promise this will be my last self-post . Ok I think I've sort it out... My device IS managed by my Windows Audio Service. This is why it's always already in use and why I can't get rid of this service or it's dependencies... So unless I find a way to force my Windows Audio to get through an ASIO driver, I believe my device is useless... btw, I've written a mail to Tascam about this. I can't beleive they sell a device with absolutely no settings to parameter...
