(Tested on a Realtek HD Audio and Windows 7 asio4all 10 beta)
So ASIO4ALL has been having some problems with windows 7 while using daws like ableton and cubase ect...
Here is how I got it working, should work with guitar rig as well, haven't tested it yet though.
Download the latest driver "windows 7 compatible" for you WDM capable sound card, mine being the realtek HD Audio onboard sound.
Replace the crappy windows driver for your sound card with the manufacturers version, it can be tricky with windows 7 because as soon as you uninstall the driver, it auto installs the crappy microsoft version immediately. So what I did was go to control panel and system, find device manager and open it, go to your sound device and right click it, select replace driver "assuming that you downloaded the manufactures version and unzipped it". Go to the path and select the windows 7 version, vista version may work too if it's all you have.
after that, install version 10 of asio4all, and there you go.
Make sure you install the manufacturers drivers! Check the driver properties and make sure it doesnt say microsoft! unless microsoft made your card.
Should work for guitar rig with out much of a fuss. and all your other vsts.
Cubase 5.1 ftw!

yes very exiting, a modern windows os that can be used as a sexy recording studio. Changing the way sound is routed from how it was in vista is a big slab of uber awesomeness, and in my opinion windows 7 now rivals the mac OS.
If we could only use logic pro i'd say f**k you over priced macs!
So yes, tested on a guitar amp simulator vst, and it works.
But not without the great help of Michael Tippach, and his 1337 programming skills.
If you get the "out of logic" error it usually means your sound driver is either too old or too new.

Could be a bad stick of RAM. Try removing one at a time to see if there is an improvement.

If I do the above solution to ASIO4all + Windows 7 + Reaper 3.75, will I have to toggle some services after recording to listen to some You Tube videos?

Re: Cubase 4.5.2 + ASIO4ALL + Windows 7
I also have a Realtek HD onboard audio device and have never used the instruments in Cubase until now because of the rediculously unuseable latency with the Full Duplex ASIO driver supplied with Cubase 4.I only used MIDI synchronized with tape audio for recordings.I was amazed at the lack of latency with Michael Tippach's ASIO4ALL driver.I can now play a piano instrument in more or less real time!Initially though I was dismayed that when I tried to record a guitar using an audio track there was not response.I finally found the answer in the ASIO4ALL control panel, the input was set to Realtek front mic audio instead of audio line in.Once I set that as the input source it worked, the output was already set to audio out.A further discovery was the almost zero latency with audio as well!I also have the trial version of Cubase 6.5 but the low latency driver supplied displays distortion and latency, even this is improved by using the ASIO4ALL driver. The distortion disappears but the latency is still there.Any thoughts on this Michael?
As of now I am quite happy with my Cubase 4 setup for all my recording as the outlay of upgrading to Cubase 6.5 and probably a USB Audio interface to get rid of the distortion and latency problem just doesn't seem worth it as there would still be the questionl of would it work after all?
Many thanks Michael for a brilliant piece of software, keep up the good work!
Hope this is of help to someone
Dave

Confirmation for Cubase EL6 on Windows 7 with ASIO4ALL. Sound interface is Terratec DMX 6Fire USB and Zoom H2 USB connected. I'm fighting some leaks recording with the H2 still. It may require fiddling with the settings a bit more. Overall, I'm satisfied.
