This is my problem and I need to know how I can fix it. My computer is running windows XP and has MS GS Software Wavetable Synth set as the midi thing. How do I fix this problem? The whole reason I am using ASIO4ALL is for FL Studio and I have no output sound and there are no options for the output directory.

I really don't know what your problem is. If you think that ASIO4ALL is a midi software synth then you are wrong or are misinformed.

Maybe my problem!
for bad English.
Is it possible to check which Applications take the availability of the Asio4All?
I got the problem that a application take the functionality of the Device and i don't know which one.
Systemsounds OFF. All Programms (I can see) OFF. But "Unavailable"
Thanks, Kai

Solution found!!
After combing through the internet for days, here's a workaround that I found. Apparently the main problem is that GS Wavetable Synth and the ASIO driver use the same port, but settings are set so that only one can use it at a time (exclusivity). You need to change this in control panel. As a side note, I'm using windows 7 and FLStudio9 so the exact setting may be slightly different for you.
1. Go to control panel 2. Click Hardware/Sound 3. Under "Sound" click "Manage Audio Devices" 4. Right click on any of your playback devices and go to properties 5. Under advanced tab disable everything in exclusive mode 6. Repeat this for all devices under your "Playback" tab. (I had 2 devices: Internal speaker/headphone and SPDIF interface)
This eliminates the problem of Asio4all and Microsoft GS Wavetable synth not being able to use the same drivers simultaneously.
Now go to FL Studio and in your mixer: 1. Click on the "Master" channel thingy (pretty sure I'm using the wrong terminology there, but it say's "Master" written vertically, not rocket science) 2. On the mixer's left panel click on the Out pull down menu and change audio output to "HD Audio Output 2."
Everything should work now. I've been searching for this solution for days now, and I finally got it right so I wanted to share it with yall. Hope it works!

I tried Roger's solution and first i didn't understand it xD if you can explain it even more clear xD ,or try to explain with this problem that happens to me.. I have a casio lk50 connected via midi usb, so i have some few standalone apps (korg legacy, hammond b4), and i've downloaded the asio4all to remove the latency, but in those VST when i select the asio4all it doesn't makes any sound, and of course not only in the vst but in general when i open the asio4all offline settings says the same thing.. obviously i have my outputs connected and working properly..so ..why?? what can i do to solve this problem? (btw these are the asio4all problem, and the problem when i try to use the brainspawn forte. I can use the standalone apps but with direct sound, when i select asio4all it sez Output 1 & 2 not connected)

So I am having issues with Calkwalk Sonar 8 with asio4all. I am getting the "MS GS Wavetable synth enabled?" error with my realtek HD audio. I've disabled the wavetable synth from the sonar 8, but I am still getting the error. Any ideas how to fix this?

Hello,
I join you today with exactly the same problem : - Win7 - Realtek AC'97 - Sonar8 - ASIO4ALL (for virtual synth) - output speakers "exclusive mode" is disabled -> no sound and the asio4all output "not connected" because "Microsoft GS Wavetable Synth" is active
I've disabled the wavetable synth from the sonar 8, but I am still getting the error and I don't see how to disable it from Windows

I've disabled the wavetable synth from the sonar 8, but I am still getting the error and I don't see how to disable it from Windows If you read carefully then you see that it is a question. It does not say that it is enabled. It suggests that it could be a cause that there is no audio because it is in use and it could be that a wavetable synth is preventing asio4all from locking the audio port exclusively. Most often the cause if that you are having another application running that is using audio like Windows Media Player, a browser, MSN, Fraps, a weird audio enhancement application or a different daw. Keep in mind only ONE application that is using audio must be running for ASIO4ALL to get access to a specific audio device.

I tried rogers solution but it didnt work for me for Windows 7 but I did find a way for me to make it work
I found a way to disable MS GS Wavetable synth by disabling "windows audio" in the service manager in Windows 7, I dont know if its the same in Vista or xp.
Right click my computer go to manage, then go to service at the bottom of the menu tree, on the right scroll down to windows audio and stop the service, it will disable all windows sounds and you will not hear anything with it. But now, you can use asio4all without complications.
