I used asio4all in Reaper to record and monitor the same guitar sound played simultaneouly 1/ from the USB output of a Digitech RP255 multi-effect 2/ from the line-out output of the RP 255 to the input of the DMX 6fire.
I was wondering if using asio4all with 2 drivers at the same time (DMX + USB) was possible... So the answer is yes. Recording worked fine and I couldn't hear any latency at all.
Actually my goal is to use Reaper and asio4all for live silent jamming...
Every musician has his own box with a mic/line in/instrument input a headphone output and a stereo in/out USB connection. So whatever the musician plays is sent directly to the PC through USB, mixed on the PC, sent back to the musician through USB and listened through headphone.
Reaper (and probably other sequencers to) can make a main mix with different audio sources but can also make an additional mix for every musician with his/her own playing emphasized.
I hope this can be a cheap alternative to more costly solutions such as JamHub (which actually doesn't allow multi-track recording) or multi-channel USB audio interfaces with their dedicated asio drivers, since many devices (multi-effects, amps...) directly support USB and since there are many affordable solutions (such as dirt-cheap Behringer U-CONTROL UCA202, or more elaborate M-Audio Fast-Track, Yamaha audiogram, etc.) for devices with no native USB support.
