So all, I've tried using the VAC method mentioned in above posts, and have had slight success. Routing the audio from, say, foobar to cable 1 and setting cable one to output to your speakers using audio repeater allows the sound from ableton to be heard simultaneously. alternatively you can uncheck Realtek in/out in your asio4all settings, and check VAC line 1 in and line 2 out, then use audio repeater to route that to the speakers while your other audio apps will use realtek.
Unfortunately, this is a complex 'solution', and so far i haven't been able to set it up to also be able to hear whatever instruments i preamp into the microphone/line-in jack at the same time (there probably is a way to do this, by changing the default recording device from realtek to a VAC line or something).
All in all, this is a poor solution and i really hope anyone can suggest something easier... Forget Vista and go back to XP? Get a USB asio sound card? Download some patch for vista which will solve this? Any serious suggestion would give me a warm fuzzy. Thanks.

Hi, I'm having pretty much the same problem as all others here. I have been using ASIO4ALL with Amplitube and iTunes simultaneously with Windows XP for many months with great success. Now I have Windows Vista 64 and no other programs can generate sound while Amplitube is running. Unfortunately running another audio program while using Amplitube is rather the point of having Amplitube! Has no one found a fix for this?? I'm using a Sound Blaster X-Fi card.

I've a strange problem with my Realtek cards. When i try using two applications together, one of them (even with MME drivers) does not produces sound. Guitar rig/amplitube with Guitar pro/band-in-a-box. Used separately they worked just fine. System is with Realtek HD(under vista), other comp that I've tried is with Realtec AC'97,neither worked. When I have tried them on SoundMAX Hd, and with ESS alegro(on my HP very old laptop) suddenly both apps worked and I can play along with my tracks. Strange ah? I am not using Asio multiclient because both apps worked without one using ASio. If anyone helps I'll appreciate it.

Therefore: No multi-client with ASIO4ALL - unless your audio device supports this in hardware. I have a Creative X-FI Gamer and using Windows 7 x64 RC and using the Creative ASIO drivers let me have low latency audio in my DAW and still have sounds in the background so my guess is that my hardware supports it. My guess here is that with "multi-client" you mean multiple audio applications that use the ASIO4ALL driver? As I don't have background audio when I select ASIO4ALL. It locks the hardware exclusively. But as far as I can remember is that I didn't have this with XP. Is this different between 2000, XP, Vista or 7?

I'm having the same problem, after getting a new computer with Vista. My old computer was 9 years old with XP and was able to play audio from multiple programs using a cheap Creative SB Live card. Now I have onboard sound (Yeah I think its RealTek HD Audio) with Vista and I cant.
I do have an mbox, but it's not always at this computer since I record with it, so it would be annoying to keep switching cables around. Even if I did, I'm not sure how to get the mbox to play system sounds. I know there's a program for Macs that does it, it's a Digidesign one.

I succeeded in simultaneously using foobar2000 and energyXT with asiomulti & ASIO4ALL. My sound chip is Realtek HD Audio, specifically ALC1200 - however, this should work with any devices and applications, assuming that you are able to use ASIO4ALL normally. Here's how I did it:1. Install asiomulti. 2. Start up the asiomulti server and make sure it is using ASIO4ALL as the target driver. 3. Start up application A, set output to "ASIO Client" (this is the asiomulti virtual device). 4. Close application A. 5. Start up application B, set output to "ASIO Client". 6. Configure application B to use the same sampling rate and bit depth as application A. 7. Start up application A. Now both applications should be able to play audio via ASIO. If only one of them works, verify that the sampling rates and bit depths match. You might also need to reconfigure ASIO4ALL via asiomulti, but it seems this is only possible if the virtual device is not in use. I downloaded asiomulti at www.vidance.com/asiomulti/asiomulti.html, in case there are different versions about. Hope this helps!

hey, is there a way to use a program called CamStudio at the same time as fruity loops, so I can record my songs? at the moment i can't use my primary sound drivers coz they are ripped to shreds, but of course sound isn't recorded when I set the driver to AISO in fruity loops. any ideas?

My conclusion, when testing ALL kind of configs and only resulting in less hair on my head and in something that will not work: asio4all sux. The nearest to the solution was with the asiomulti. But even with that, two things went wrong: my input device was "not connected"( rather important, dont you think?), also I had to wait 30 sec locktime everytime I entered "play" button on some application connected with asioserver. Not accepted! BAH! I will now dust off and insert my old soundblaster card and download kx-mixer instead, to make things work with no hassle.

i just wanted to add, since some said that low latency was fixed having as cost the multiclient feature, that in winxp i had multiclient AND low latency, around 10ms to be more specific. anyways, ASIO is a GREAT driver... would buying an external audio interface fix the multiclient issue? since im using win7
edit: sorry i forgot to ask if you could please release that "chopper sound" fix that is getting on my nerves!!! cannot record anymore with that :S

FWIW I can use several application using asio4all plus other audio apps using either directsound, MME or the soundcard directly, all at once without problems through the Realtek AC97 onboard chip of my Asus A8V Deluxe motherboard. Operating system is Windows ME. ;D Cheers

Hi,
I'm using Win 7 pro ( 32 bit) , and I can't run two audio application at the same tims, like a VSI and WMP,! It depedns which one is launched first: if it's the vsti , there's a sound in VSi but not in wmp but if it's WMP launched first , not sound in VSTi but there is a sound in WMP
help please it's really annoying!!
So will the ASIO4ALL company work on it or not ? Is there an improvement expected?
