hi
have a motherboard with HDMI audio (up to 7.1 channel ) (Intel G35)
the problem is when i listen to a 2channel source i want it to just output 2.0 pcm but its always 7.1 , regardless of the source.
via the windows audio i can get 2.0, but as soon as asio is involved im always getting 7.1.
the rest of the channels is silent, but they need to be completely disabled (for bitperfect 2 channel audio HDCD,DTS etc...)
can this somehow be corrected ?
Thanks!

Valid point, methinks, but it may be hard to fix completely. The reason being that ASIO is an interface that (unlike MME/DirectSound) is completely ignorant of audio stream formats. There's just raw data in buffers passed back and forth - per channel. There may be a way to intelligently detect such a situation and limit the output to stereo, but the difficult bit is how to do this in a way that would not screw up other stuff in different scenarios. Writing this to let you know that this hasn't gone unnoticed, but needs some serious, deep meditation on my behalf in order to may be find a way to get this right.

Hey! I have the same problem with my ATI HDMI Ouput. Is there any solution yet? Would be nice to be able to play DTS-CDs bitperfect over HDMI. Besides that, ASIO4ALL is great! :-)
Happy new year!! Guten Rutsch!!
:-)
