Morning asio4all forums,
I use the ASIO4ALL plugin to get a live mic feed for recording with FLStudio8, and it worked for weeks without problems until yesterday. When I switched the audio input to 'realtek HD audio input 1', all I could hear was this horrible loud rhythmic buzzing.
For the record, my system specs are:
Processor: Intel(R) Core(TM)2 Duo CPU E8400 @ 3.00GHz (2 CPUs) Memory: 2046MB RAM Hard Drive: 489 GB Video Card: NVIDIA GeForce 9800 GT Monitor: Plug and Play Monitor Sound Card: Realtek HD Audio output Speakers/Headphones: BOSE Surround Operating System: Windows XP Professional (5.1, Build 2600) Service Pack 3 (2600.xpsp_sp3_gdr.080814-1236)
And I'm using Asio4All v2.
Can anyone help me? If more information is needed, I'm glad to give it.
-rucket

Have you checked the Windows mixer in order to ensure that you do not perchance have it set to record its own output?
If there's nothing wrong here, next thing would be trying to placate the dodgy Realtek XP drivers. For any version after 1.61 you will need to set the ASIO4ALL control panel in such a way that the broken WDM miniport always has 10ms worth of audio in the queue.
It has been found that e.g. an ASIO buffer size of 240 samples with a "Kernel Buffers" setting of "3" works reasonably well, YMMV.
Best apply these changes after having loaded defaults (the parachute button).
- But, either way, check the Windows mixer recording settings first!

I think it's definitely a flaw or something with ASIO4ALL, since the same exact problem occurred on my last 3 PCs. But it seems from looking around this forum that nobody would want to admit that, so um.. maybe I'm cursed.

I don't think your cursed I have the exact same problem. It worked for quite awhile then one day it just stopped working. I too get the same low level buzz sound and nothing else. I have not been able to isolate the problem and have been trying to ever since. This was for about 8 months now.

Exactly, I hadn't installed or changed anything on my PC, it just stopped working.
I kind of don't think anyone on this forum has any idea how to help.

Just for further review, I just tried plugging in a different mic, plugging in synthesizers, and other drum machines using various cables to make sure there wasn't a cable malfunction in my mic cable.
And I still hear buzzing.
Why has this happened on all my PCs, and why does there seem to be no solution for this on the internet? I googled this so much, and there are so many people complaining about this, and no answers.
Maybe there's an alternative plugin to Asio4all? That's what I'm hoping. Cheers.

I googled this so much, and there are so many people complaining about this, and no answers. Hmm, I must be missing something, but somehow I could not manage to find even a reasonable sub set of these "so many people complaining about this" using Google. (1) Perhaps you can help me out? Also, (2) can you reproduce this using a different audio host application? (There are demo versions available for download for just about every major audio software) Usually, in software land, things do not suddenly stop working all by themselfs. If it worked before, something must have caused it to break. Finally, (3) can you please post a screen shot of the ASIO4ALL control panel, WDM tree view expanded, when launched from within FLS?

yo what up guys! It sounds crazy but its simple: simply turn off any "Audio Line Input" in your ASIO4ALL Panel and the "BUZZ" disappears! Dont ask me how but it works! Let me know!

I have Reason and record and both worked like a dream until the last few days. I'm getting the rythmic buzz into Record and no matter what I try it does not stop. If I switch off input it works but I can't then use a mic. It's a real shame as this had the best latency out of all the other stuff I used.

yup happens to me too, i upgraded to newer version of asio but that didnt work. my problem is that the buzzing is so loud like its grounded or something. actually had an answer to it. turn on and off the asio till the buzz is gone, maybe about 100 times before that works. oh and im using fl studio 9. this only happen when the mic is on and when the output is on. maybe cause you hear nothing if output is off too lol. when mic is turned off no buzz, but then no voice recording.
