Hey guys im fairly sure this is a problem with 2.5 as i didn't have this issue with 2.4 (allthough i didnt have 2.4 installed that long before 2.5 came out) basically im using traktor dj studio 2.6 and an external mixer whilst the music is playing i occasionally get skipping and stuttering in the songs which lasts a random amount of time and occurs on non regular intervals any ideas or thoughts please let me know

Having the same problem here with some stand alone instruments from native instruments, no problem with the same instruments as plugins in Traction. No problems whatsoever with prior releases of the driver, so I second you in that this is probably a 2.5 issue. It would be good to have an option to download older version when you run into bugs like these...

That is interesting! The changes to the actual audio engine between 2.4 and 2.5 were basically ...none at all!
Is there a way I can reproduce this with demo-downloadable NI software (except for Reaktor 3&4, where I have a fully licensed copy of each myself)?
I may in the future change my mind about making earlier releases available, but currently the "policy" is like this: If you encounter an issue with a new version that an older version _evidently_ did not have _and_ the issue cannot be resolved quickly, you will be sent the version that _did_ work privately upon request.
The reason for this "policy" is simple: I do not think that it is a good idea to have several versions out there where each version works with a different subset of audio devices. I'd rather have it that the latest version is always the best and quality improvements remain cumulative. If, otherwise, someone happens to get "stuck" at a certain version because of an issue that went unnoticed, they will have no upgrade path later on - which is not exactly desireable.

Hi Michael, Not to sure how you might go about gettin the same problem to work the setup i was using was Traktor DJ Studio 2.6 (as mentioned) and a Numark DXM01 USB Mixer. The settings im using for the 2 usb soundcards that the mixer creates are as follows: ASIO buffer size: 512 samples Latency comp (in & out): 32 samples Hardware buffer: off Always resample 44 <-> 48: on Force WDM to 16bit: off I've fiddled about with those settings loads and it seemded to become less frequent when i increased the buffer size. Any ideas on a better set of settings i should use? or a possible fix?

Is there a way I can reproduce this with demo-downloadable NI software (except for Reaktor 3&4, where I have a fully licensed copy of each myself)? I was able to reproduce this problem with Buzz (you can download it from buzzmachines.com for free) playing some free standard not-special VSTis (not to mention the expensive proffesional plugins). All those tracks ran fine and highly performant with wuschel's asio4all but asio4allv2.5 stutters and skips. I've tried several buffer/sample settings but could only find some marginal improvements. At least as soon as I load more than one VSTi or having some buzz-native plugins running, the stuttering starts again. That all worked fine with wuschel's however since it can't be convincet to use my external SB LIVE! USB soundcard I'll have the internal Realtec AC '97 untill someone can find a solution for that.

I was just playing around a bit with Buzz running on my older wuschel's asio4all installation enjoying its nice performance! MIDI, audio-input and even the VSTi-plugins where running soo fluid. No other outputdriver (asio or not) was able to reach at least a acceptable percentage of the performance of this driver! I REALLY would like to have the same performance with my external soundcard and the asio-driver v2.5.

I have put up a new test release here: www.asio4all.com/A4Av26p1.exeThis is meant to address the clicking an popping problem at least for some. Any feedback is highly appreciated! However, there were _no_ changes WRT this between v2.4 and v2.5, thus this would also be an improvement over v2.4 - or even v2.3 for that matter.

Sorry I could not find any major improvements with 26p1 I tested several settings however the stuttering was always there. It's seems to a special problem with my USB hardware and asio4all because there is no stuttering on directx-output over USB...

Since your USB mixer presents itself as not one but two audio devices, could it possibly be that they are not running from the same clock source?
Does the skipping also occur if you run the devices one at a time?

I always had have the same problems with 2.x (starting from 2.0 up to 2.5). I thought it might be my system - but now that I found many others reporting the same thing.
Some more information (maybe it's helpful): -Laptop Pentium Centrino 1.7Ghz, 1GB Memory -Used application 'NI Kontakt' -Problem: skipping about each 5 minutes
I tried your old version today (1.8) and it worked fine. (No problems for 30 minutes of playing) Settings: Kernel Buffers: 3 Asio Size: 224 Disable Input: on Output latency: 10ms
With the 2.x I got an output latency of 5ms
I tried the version 2.6 and it seams to work better. I get some crackling about 10-20 second each time I change the ASIO driver (1.8 <-> 2.6) - and the rest of the time it works fine. (I will play some more time today and report if I get the 'skipping and stuttering' again).
Btw: How can I disable the input in version 2.x ?
And not to forget: I like to say thank you for createing this wonderful driver and am glad I found this page.

Btw: How can I disable the input in version 2.x ? Go to "Advanced", expand the tree for your audio device, select the item that reads "IN {...}" and click "Disable"

Does the skipping also occur if you run the devices one at a time? What do you mean by the same clock source? How can i find out etc? I can't run the devices one at a time as the mixer has 2 channels each having its own soundcard so i wouldn't be able to mix

Cheers
