Hey Bro. I been through all this before!! If you are using XP, i recommend that you try out an older driver, even as far back as 2004!! Use this with asio4all 2.7, NOT 2.8 (rubbish for xp) anything below asio4all 2.7beta 1 is useless for realtek hd sound. You should be able to get down to under 10ms then. I find that using reaper program is a good way to test. I can get 1ms Latency stablle with my realtek using the demo project in reaper. I reduce buffers to 0 and set it to 64 samples. I use HD driver 1.4 (NO SPDIF OVER HDMI,OH WELL!!!) with A4A 2.7. Other recommendations i have come across include using driver 1.47 and 1.61. Newer drivers do not appear to work well below 10ms Go figure!!! Good luck all laptopeers!!!!!

I resolved my issue by heading into the realtek HD control panel and setting it to run at 16-bit rather than 24. But now ableton live'll only run it through one of my monitors when using outs 3/4. It'll run right at 3, left at 4, but both channels head to my right on 3/4 - shucks.

I hope this helps someone... my asio4all output with the realtek hda was unavailable as well under Vista. I went into the sound control panel -> playback -> speakers, advanced tab... and set the default format to 16-bit 44.1khz. Now ASIO is working perfectly with Guitar Rig. ;D YES!!!!! I was going nuts. Thanks man!!! -StereoDevil

THIS SOLVED MY PROBLEM! Im using vista and realtek and my ASIO4all didnt work in FLstudio 9. Before starting ASIO press CTRL+ALT+DEL and go to processes and MAKE SURE "wmplayer.exe" isnt running in the background. If it does it blocks ASIO and you will get no sound. Hope this works for someone!

@julien To the genius that helped with directing me to the technical settings for my audio, THANK YOU. I had been experiencing THE most annoying glitching and dropping out due to my laptop's horrific audio card. However, I just followed the directions, set it to "16-bit, 192,000 Hz (Studio Quality)" and check both the boxes, and it worked like a miracle! Now the auto-scrolling time marker moves smoother than ever, and the wobble in my dubstep sounds sexier than ever! Thank you SOOOO much for your help. You CLEARLY know what you're doing and have made my day-- scratch that --month. Much appreciation, DJ Willson

i noticed this was an old thread and is the same exact issue im having. 512 smpls 16/14 ms latency no matter where i move the slider in the configuration. is there not a fix for this yet? Hi Michael, I noticed that with High Definition Audio (Realtek in this case on a 915 chipset) the latency cannot go lower past a certain point which seems to be 512 samples. What I mean is that the slider can be turned all the way down to 64 samples but the latency remains at 512 samples with a noticeable delay between pressing a key and hearing the sound. The delay is not huge but it is far greater than what I could get on a much older P4 1.7 laptop with a soundmax chip. Any Suggestions? Many Thanks
