Ever since I upgraded my os to win7, I couldn't get asio to work, until yesterday... I disabled my integrated realtek HD audio and installed Terratec Aureon 5.1 FUN soundcard. Then installed ASIO4ALL, and Sonar 8. Now at this point I had problems with MS GS wavetable synth, so I disabled it from sonar. And then restarted sonar and everything worked just fine. I mean, I was almost certain that there's no way I could ever get asio to work in win7 with low level card, but apparently I was wrong. I am almost certain that my problem was my integrated card. And wavetable synth. I just could't disable that wavetable before I installed sonar. I used programs like KRISTAL, Audacity, etc. but only in sonar I could disable it. So if someone has problems with MS GS wavetable, try using this method.
Here's the link for sonar :http://www.cakewalk.com/support/kb/reader.aspx?ID=20081217

Good news. I would also like to add that replacing my Edirol UA25 with a Saffire USB Interface led to the XP Pro (sp2) OS not seeing the new Saffire 1.6 ASIO driver for XP - only Kernel Streaming worked which meant many of my plug-ins wouldn't work. The supplier thought it was an installation issue (I,e Me that was causing he error), I knew otherwise and thought it was a configuration/compatibility issue with he driver. When I was about to give up and put it all back in he box and argue my case with the retailer, I tried ASIO4All. It worked straight off. Many thanks to them. I was at my wits end and under pressure to get stuff out. So for the record, Sonar 7 + ASIO4ALL + XP Pro sp2 all work perfectly thanks to ASIO4ALL.

What driver you use for that Aureon 5.1 FUN? Is that card based on C-media chip?
