Hi,
Not sure it is the right forum but maybe someone knows.. I'm looking for a free vidéo player that can output sound on ASIO, is there such a player ?
vlc can't output on ASIO for the moment, I asked the question on the vidéolan forum and had an answer saiying that vlc can be compiled with portaudio (that can use ASIO) but the ASIO SDK is not compatible with GPL. Does someone has information on that point ?
Thanks for any help Christophe

Why is this important for you? Having low latency audio for playing video is not really an issue.

That was not to change the latency but to have bit perfect reproduction (Xp audio mixer do a bad resampling of audio datas).
But I discovered that my soundcard can work in Kernel Streaming, which achieves bit perfect audio, and they are some video players that can output on Kernel streaming, so, it's ok.

Otherwise, you would have been just fine using e.g. Winamp + ASIO out plugin.
Leaving aside considerations WRT the actual benefit of bit perfect audio from a compressed source, of course.

Yes, I tried winamp + ASIO, but unfortunately, it doesn't play all vidéos format.
As for benefit of bit perfect audio from a compressed source, it makes a very noticeable difference with sound going to xp audio mixer, maybe it depends of the hardware used.
