In recording sessions I'd like to send studio output into Skype for the client and Skype input for producer direction in the headset. Skype audio quality approaches ISDN quality and I'd like to take advantage of that rather than resorting to the old phone patch session quality. Would an ASIO driver for Skype be a solution for that problem or am I barking up the wrong tree? TIA!

That works on my system right out of the box.
Just enable your "What you are listening to" or "mix" recording channel in Vista or Windows 7 and select that in Skype are its input.
When you now have output in your DAW via ASIO it gets available on that channel and the skype receiver will hear it.
The only problem is that you cannot hear the other side as that output is locked by ASIO4ALL. So either use a different audio card or different output that is not locked.
