hi all - love asio4all; have been using it to much avail for years now!
i recently got a lenovo 3000 n200 with good olde' winXP32 (realtek alc861 hd - driver version: 5.10.0.5995, the latest i think) and have been running ableton 8 but get some new-odd crashes from some old vst plugins (obviously ableton's fault on that)... the crashes result in the nasty xp blue screen of death/memory dump.. then immediate shutdown...
i figured out that if i disable the realtek inputs in the asio4all 2.9 control panel (advanced settings section of the task bar icon that pops up when ableton loads), when ableton crashes - i then do not get the blue screen/XPcrash/restart evilness... just a regular old program crash...
so obviously there is a conflict between the realtek driver and the asio4all 2.9 in relation to ableton (haven't had this XPcrash occur with any other audio program)... a strange threesome i think. note: even if i turn off the inputs in ableton's native audio preference panel, i still get the nasty blue screen crash. only if i turn off the realtek inputs in asio4all does the crash not result in full computer reboot.
right now every time i load ableton, the little asio4all taskbar icon appears and i have to manually turn off the inputs to prevent the XP crash if ableton crashes... but i have to do this EVERY time...
sooo, is there a way to semi-permanently disable the inputs for my realtek in asio4all so that every time i load up ableton and asio4all loads for it, the inputs for realtek/ableton in asio4all are automatically switched off by default instead of on? is there like a preferences settings file for asio4all where i could set this default for ableton?
any thoughts, advice, questions, etc. would be a huge welcome!!!
