Michael,
I've been searching the forum for solutions and have tried a few, but am still having a problem.
My machine:
HP Pavillion dv9730us
AMD TL-64 2.20 GHz dual-core CPU
3 GB RAM
Conexant High Definition SmartAudio 221 audio drivers
OS is Windows Vista Home Premium w/SP2
NOTE: This issue only occurs using asio4all with Finale 2009!
asio4all works just fine with ALL of my other apps.
In the Finale 2009 Audio Setup window, if I select "ASIO4ALL v2" I get the following choices for input/output:
Mic Source: Conexant HD Audio input 1 / Conexant HD Audio input 2
Output: Conexant HD Audio digital out 1 / Conexant HD Audio digital out 2
I cannot route the output to my speakers!
When I look at the asio4all Control Panel I see that the
Conexant HD Audio input has a red X & gives the following hover-over message:
INTERFACE
Out 2x 44.0-192.0 kHz, 24Bits
Status: Unavailable!
-> In use by another application?
-> 'MS GS Wavetable synth' enabled?
=
If I change to the default Vista HD audio drivers, as I have read you suggest, I get the following:
Mic Source: Not Connected 1 / Not Connected 2
Output: Not Connected 1 / Not Connected 2
When I look at the asio4all Control Panel I see that the
HD Audio Speaker has a red X & gives the following hover-over message:
INTERFACE
Out 2x 44.0-192.0 kHz, 24Bits
Status: Unavailable!
-> In use by another application?
-> 'MS GS Wavetable synth' enabled?
I have system sounds off, and no other applications running. I get the same results no matter what MIDI output is selected in Finale 2009; (none), Default MIDI Output Device, Microsoft GS Wavetable Synth, or one of the SmartMusic SoftSynths.
Also, please note that I CAN actually play VST instruments in Finale 2009 using these two drivers without asio4all, but the sound quality is poor and easily degraded by actions as simple as moving the mouse around!
Please advise, ASAP!
Thanks for your help, and for a FANTASTIC utility!
