I'm getting a weird issue with ASIO4ALL. Interesting behavior happens - it plays fine, no skipping etc. Then after a while a whole bunch of crackle happens, then again returns to normal. It's cyclic. Plain ASIO or DirectSound via PreSonus FP10 or DirectSound via my Realtek HDA doesn't skip this way. Neither does sound routed with DirectSound or MME from VAC. Happens more rarely if the buffer is larger, but still only increases both the interval and the length of the crackly period. Looks to me like a clock failure...

Exactly the same problem. This problem seems to be an win7+asio4ll problem. I tried it on two different pc with win 7 and the same problem. Tried with both steinberg nuendo and cubase. Tried with 3 diferent sound cards and the same problem. Using XP on one of the pc solves the problem. I also measured the sound output given under win 7 and asio4all distorts the sound (frequency response dependent on volume settings). Again the problem is not there under XP.

What are your latency settings set at? Mine are at 512 and have no problems with a Numark Omni controller as well as DJIO.

Sounds like I've got same problem. Using Reaper and Alesis Guitar Link. For some time it plays without a problem, but within say 3 minutes signal from guitar starts cracking and I have to click on ASIO configuration tool and open it and close it to get rid of this issue. It's reaaaaly anoying, so if someone know what to do, feel free to share...

Same problem then I'm using Juli@ for input and Realtek HD for output on Win7. Cracking after time.

Forgot to say, this crackling not related to the input signal. It happens even if I'm just playing with VSTi-s in my DAW.

I am experiencing the same or similar problem. After 10 or so minutes, a lot of crackling starts. I found that the remedy is to open ASIO control panel and close it. This somehow restarts ASIO driver. I tried using DPC Latency checker, as suggested, but it shows everything is fine, always well in the green area. I have Realtek sound on board, nothing fancy, driver is relatively new (2.11.2010.), Realtek HD Audio version 6.0.1.6235. I've heard of friend of mine he has similar problem. Any ideas? Michael? thanks for any clues. (win7 64-bit, 4GB RAM, WD Caviar black 7200)
P.S. after reading again AstralStorm post, it seems it is Realtek HDA related. Other ASIO drivers work fine for me (generic ASIO, DirectX ASIO)

Usually this is a telltale sign of two or more audio devices being enabled (in the ASIO4ALL control panel) that do not actually share a common sample clock source.
In which case they will run out of sync, eventually.

I have a very similar issue... I use FL for a while and then I start getting clicks in the playback... if you disable asio and re-enable it fixes it for a while... I found that hitting the windows button at the bottom of the keyboard solves the problem the fastest but only temporarily.

That happens to me while using my boss me25 to record my guitar in cubase 5,it helps when you open the asio prefereces and just click apply, and then in a couple of mins it happens again.when applying lover latences the problem dissapears

Oh, never mind, seems some kind of issue with the new DAC. Fixed.

Hi all. I too see this problem. Following Michael's comment regarding two or more audio devices and clocks running out of sequence, this may be my problem.
I have a Dell XPS 720 and an Alesis io26 Firewire and used both for audio i/o so Michael's comment rings true. However, the thing that is very odd is that I only have the problem with ASIO4ALL 2.11 Beta1 - all is (mostly) ok for ASIO4ALL 2.10. With 2.10, I have occasional audio drop outs mostly on playback when playing audio from the io26 that are very, very short.
Any thoughts Michael or anyone else?

Usually this is a telltale sign of two or more audio devices being enabled (in the ASIO4ALL control panel) that do not actually share a common sample clock source. In which case they will run out of sync, eventually. Such as the single input and the single output? Is it not possible to detect this and add or delete a sample (intelligently) to allow continuous operation? I've had this problem consistently across applications, operating systems, configurations and machines. Allowing it to just continue with ever worsening garble doesn't seem a good design choice.

Hi,
I have to same problem, noise crackling appear after 5 mins. It wasn't the case the first months of use until I introduce a microphone in my recordings. Now (even when I don't use mic) it happen everytime.
BUT I think I know why it happen but I'm unable to fix it
The first months, the input and output latency were around 15-17 ms each.
Now the input latency is always at 0 ms (whatever I do). The output still around 17 ms.
I don't think it's normal that I have no latency at all in input. Someone know how it can happen and how to fix it??
