I recall years ago the suggestion for ASIO4ALL was to uninstal lthe manufacturer sound card driver, amd use the default windows driver for the sound card, before installing ASIO4ALL over it.
But now I read in one post here better to use the manufacturer sound card. The card the poster was referring to was the same one in my laptop--Realtek HD Audio. Is it better to install the newest Realtek HD sound driver, before installing ASIO4ALL, rather than uninstalling Realtek and using the windows driver?
What are other's opinions--manufacturer's or Windows? Does it matter for this question which version of Windows? (I use both Win7 and XP, dual boot.)
I would guess if using the Realtek card, one should disable all of its extra bells and whistles--the background app they set to run all the time, the sound effects, reverb, etc., correct?
