What do you guys use to output your ASIO signal in Winamp? I'm using out_asio(dll) but had a bit of an issue when using it with asio4all - for some reason I had to increase out_asio(dll)'s buffer size to 63 (i.e. max) to avoid stuttering. Is there any reason (in your opinion ) why the signal output from asio4all should need such a big buffer?I'm using an Audigy 2 ZS with a P2.4b and 512mb pc3200 ddr - thanks!

What do you guys use to output your ASIO signal in Winamp? Anyone?! You all use ASIO drivers I'd guess and you must be using an output plugin if you're using Winamp It might not be necessary for me to increase the buffer all the way to 63 - I've not had time to check - but certainly I get the sound breaking up when the buffer is on the normal value (7) to at least ~30, and I know it's totally cured at 63. The asio_out.dll buffer seems to be the chokepoint like I say, but I'm not sure why... thanks!

ASIO output for Winamp etc. is a little more prone to crackles than the MME stuff. Specifically, this could be an issue if you do other stuff while Winamp is running in the background, and people have a habit of mostly doing exactly that ;-)
The worst performance killers I have spotted so far are soft modems as they require the full attention of the host CPU whilst in use. WLAN adapters also seem to contribute to the problem of occasional audio interruption.
OTOH, if you actually have set the ASIO buffer size to 2048, inputs disabled, Kernel Buffers = 4, and it _still_ crackles, there is another problem in your setup.
