In a nutshell, my ASIO-output audio is muted as soon as I open a new application with sound (i.e. clicks, chimes, etc.).
I'm using the following setup:
Windows 2000 SP4 DirectX 9.0c Chaintech 710 with Via v3.10b [also tried latest driver] ASIO4ALL [tried 1.8, v2, v2 and v23p2 test] WinAmp 5.08 with ASIO output plugin v0.50a SSE2
Audio is being output from the Chaintech card's toslink digital out jack to the toslink digital input jack of a 2 channel Meitner D to A converter. The audio sounds great through WinAmp w/ the ASIO output plugin, but as soon as I run any other application with any kind of sound (such as the chimes and clicks in IE Explorer), the sound from WinAmp is immediately muted, and only the sound from the new application can be heard.
Is this normal behavior? If so, then I simply cannot listen to audio through ASIO unless I'm not running any other applications at the same time. Oviously, this is not practical for me.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
