One of the new features in 2.x is the automatic Crash Recovery, whereby if the host crashes, the audio engine in ASIO4All is disabled.
Now, I understand this is a worthwhile feature and has great use many users. However, I'm using Logic 5.5.1 on WinXP, and especially when testing newer VST or DX plugs, this old version of Logic does crash from time to time as it isn't really supported any more. Furthermore, Logic doesn't exactly have the smoothest way of dealing with ASIO drivers, and requires an engine restart(including rescan of all VST plugs, time consuming) to reset the driver.
Anyway, what I'm asking for is an option to disable this feature. Sure, turn it by default, but I doubt I'm the only one who would rather it not be activated.
Thanks !!

You have a valid point here, IMHO.
I'm thinking of a mechanism to let the user turn off this feat maybe by means of a simple registry tweak.
For the time being, it is possible already to prevent that from happening after a crash by editing the registry, but you have to re-do this after each and every crash.
The most convenient solution is to simply use Regedit to back up the entire HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\ASIO4ALL v2 by Wuschel\ hive into a .reg file after a proper shutdown of Logic. Put that .reg file onto your dektop for best user experience so the only thing you need to do after a Logic crash is to double click on the .reg file shortcut and press "OK'. Beats having Logic re-scan everything the next time you run it ;-)

Michael, Thanks for your prompt reply, with a temporary solution, no less! Sounds like just the fix for me right now But of course, while I have no issues working with Regedit, it would be nice for less techy people to have the function built in. Oh, and cut it out with the IMHO, surely this is one message board you have no need to feel humble in ;D Thanks again, Mike
