First let me say I'm not a programmer so the following text may worth nothing. I was wondering if Michael could use modern processors' multimedia instructions to further improve performance. I'm talking about SSE, SSE2 etc. Just an idea.

The only thing within ASIO4ALL that could consume a sizeable amount of CPU time is the resampler, which is still neglectible. If it doesn't resample, ASIO4ALL does no processing on the actual audio data. The CPU overhead is mostly generated in the OS kernel.
ASIO4ALL currently does, however, already make use of the advanced cache management instructions that come with SSE2
