First of all, I'd like to say that this is an awesome piece of software that has helped out on alot of latency issues.
Our company (FlexRadio Systems) suggests using ASIO4ALL to lower the latency for our software defined radio.
We have a customer with an Audigy2 (not an Audigy 2 ZS) that is reporting that his system crashes about 10 seconds after trying to fire up the radio using ASIO4ALL 2.2.
I don't have any information past that as I don't have an Audigy 2 to verify this issue, but I thought I would pass along the info.
Keep up the great work with this project.

A system crash (as opposed to a mere application crash) invariably is caused by a bug in the OS or a kernel mode component (ASIO4ALL runs in user mode only.) This does not mean that there cannot be a workaround of some sort. It just means that without more knowledge of the exact circumstances it is a little hard to think of things which we would want to work around Is your user prepared to run some debugging stuff on his/her machine?

I have pointed them to your new forums (congrats on getting them up and running). We'll see if they can pick up the ball and run with it.
9 times out of 10, your software works wonderfully.

I have an Audigy 2 ZS and I am running Cakewalk Sonar 4. Installed ASIO4all 2.2 and had problems with BSODs three times within a couple of hours. Used Windbg.exe and all that was indicated was an NT kernel crash.
Intalled ASIO4all 1.8 and everything has been running extremely solid with no problems at 5.8 ms. Go figure!
By the way, great piece of software. This is the first time I have been able to get acceptable performance using any ASIO driver with my Audigy 2 ZS. I had no success with either the Creative or KX drivers.

Of course a BSOD always indicates that there is a kernell/WDM driver problem. The "art" is to not do anything the WDM driver would not expect (even though it should return an error code instead of just crashing) Could you please just try this one: www.asio4all.com/A4Av23p2.exe...so I can possibly rule out (or maybe not) the minor slip fixed in here as a potential cause? Thanks! -Mike

Hi Mike,
Thanks for responding. I was unable to install version 2.3 successfully. When I clicked on the offline control panel, the application would hang and would not launch.
When I clicked a second time, I would get an error message that stated "Improper shutdown detected! Audio disabled! Please check the ASIO4All control panel!"
After this error message, the control panel would appear and everything appeared normal under the advanced settings.
I also tried uninstalling and reinstaling several times, but without any luck. Also. Sonar would freeze when I tried to select the driver and I had to terminate the program using the windows task manager. By the way, I am using Windows XP.

An application hang instead of a BSOD is a good thing, because I changed a 1 sec. timeout in one place to an infinite wait time (However, the driver call in question should succeed in less than one millisecond!) This means that we're homing in on the actual problem spot. I have put a new test release on www.asio4all.com/A4Av23p3.exe that would not do things like stop a device twice. Allthough any WDM driver - in theory - must be able to do that without a hiccup, Creative drivers are famous for a reason. If it still doesn't work, the next step would be a driver version with debug output, but better try this one first.

Hi Michael,
Same results as before. Sonar would not even launch after installing this driver.
FYI, version 1.8 still works great!

OK, I think my thread here and this problem are related. I actually have the Audigy2 ZS PCMCIA Notebook card, but when I used these drivers, my laptop locked up really bad. When I inserted the PCMCIA card into the slot...the laptop locked up hard. When I press the power button, I got a blue screen that says IRQ Less or Not Equal ~ Reason is ACPI. Creative has no issues on any other laptop that produces a similar result. FYI, after reboot...I could NOT boot; Not even in safe mode. When I press the power button, I got that same Blue Screen. I even tried booting with the WXP Install Disk. That worked the first time, spent 4 hours restoring all the drivers after installing XP over top the old installation (as not to lose my data). Well, it happened again!!!!!!!!!! The Install disk trick did NOT work the second time. Luckily I had a backup. I'm afraid to use that card now with these drivers now & the drivers included with the card do not work in 44.1 sampling rate. Ableton Live used to crash all the time when using ASIO4ALL (with my built in soundcard [AC97]) BEFORE I loaded A4Av23p3. Any progress on getting it to work with the Audigy2?

I have an Audigy 2 ZS. I get the improper shutdown message also, usually after the second attempt to start the control app. I also have a RealTek onboard chip set, but I removed the drivers and it made no difference.
When you start the first time, it does not think any cards are running. 2.2 and 1.8 worked fine, and I have reverted back to 2.2.
When you exit the panel, the settings are not saved because the UI exits, but it remains in the process list. I think the second start up when the first is still running (in the process list only) is when you get the improper shutdown message.
I can edit the registry values manually and the values are read by the app OK after starting, eithee the first time, or after pressing OK to the warning dialog.

Exact same problems as Theo has. . . Crashing Sonar 4 producer and stating the same message after "improper shut down. . ." Was running 2.2 before and had a little bug when was trying to run a file with mixed MIDI and WAVE which was making my MIDI track delayed. . . Had to revert back to WDM/KS where my lattency is almost nothing even when playing the same mixed track and playing on top of that a live softsynth track. Running XP with sp2 on a AMD athlon XP 2600+ with 512megs ram, 2 x 40gig HHD (maxtor) and ATI 9200 video card, the midi interface is M-AUDIO USB midisport 2x2
