The QUESTION was how to fix this problem in Windows Xp NOT Windows 7 or Vista!!!!!!! Can anyone answer Alex's question because I'm having the same problem with Windows XP Pro NOT Windows 7 or Vista (the parameters and text are not the same in Windows XP). Does anyone know how to disable MS GS Wavetable Synth in WINDOWS XP PRO?

k - rly sounds weared - found it on another page - a the guy just got flamed for his "useless answer" (the disable "exclusive mode" didn't work for me either sadly) just DISABLE all audio devices wich are blocked! control panel -> sounds -> ... youre device ... -> rightclick -> disable asio4all STILL can use the device even u disabled it under windows! (perhaps u have to once deactivate and reactivate the device in ASIO4ALL-Panel after u disabled under windows to see the changes) worked for me several times now - after u are finished with youre DAW u can reenable for other software to use... - bit annoying to switch off before aech time - but hey - finaly it at least works for me hf guys

Perheps I found a solution for Win 7-64bit.After a long long long time of trying everything to get Cubase 5 working similary as in Win XP 32 bit, I finely found a way how Asio4all can be used. As many of you, I have the HD onboard sound chip, and an old soundblaster audigy card. I enabled the onboard soundchip first in the bios. I installed then the original setup disc for my onboard card, but for vista 64 bit. then the newest driver for soundblaster win7 64 bit. After that asio4all version 2.10. In cubase 5 I disabled the Microsoft GS wavetable synth. Now I can play anything in my Media Player Classic, listen to Youtube over the Firefox, and work with cubase at the same time.Wow...it took me really a long time to get to this solution, and I hope it helps for the beginning. Good Luck

Stopping and Restarting the Windows Audio service after doing as Roger suggested worked for me without having to reboot!
Great!

A solution which worked for me in Win 7 x64(and probably all Win 7 versions) - Go to Playback devices
- Double click the device you want to make available to Asio4All
- At the bottom under 'Device Usage'=>Choose 'Disable' then click 'Apply'
- Click 'OK' => 'OK' so the sound dialogue box is gone
- Check Asio4All now which should show your device as available
Once (in my case) Asio4All under Reason was able to use my device, I re-enabled it as above and the problem has not returned. I am not sure this last part matters but I was curious as to what was going on. Good luck Adam Thanks Dude! hell of an old post, put i want to thank you anyway for fixing my problem. This worked for me on Win 7, 64 bit, GR 4

OK, now I am having the same problem on Win7 64 bit. I have tried every solution listed in this entire post. Not a single one has worked for me. I installed ASIO4All yesterday, it worked until I rebooted the PC. Now nothing. PLEASE HELP!

I am having similar problems with ASIO4ALL. Im running Ableton live 8.2.2 on Windows 7 ultimate with the newest version of ASIO4all. When I first installed, it worked like a dream. Now after a system restart no sounds are being made at all. Any solution to this problem?
