Hello Michael Tippach!
Great work with A4A BTW.
I am a tweakhead and finally found a way to run the reaper demo project at 1ms with realtek ALC660 on XP on core 2 duo 7500 2.2 x 2 on 965gm chipset w NVIDIA 8600m
I use HD driver 1.4 (1st signed driver for 660) and A4A 2.7 (full and beta1)
i select it not to resample and have 0 buffers to get this latency.
However, if I load a big project into Cubase which is to big for selected latency (ie 512ms) then it will hang (nothing out of the ordinary in this situation)
Sometimes this happens by accident (my fault) Normally latencies between 768 and 1024 samples are fine for the most demanding projects.
Basically, if i have an error and the app closes then i get an instant BSOD, so have to wait for memory to dump etc.......
This also applies to project that are corrupted and wont load (which happens from time to time, don’t ask me why.)
In fact I'm a big fan of auto save as well which covers me if this happens, so I usually just open an old project and carry on
In this situation I would normally just kill stuff in task manager and restart the program, but i just get this BSOD when i do that:-
BSOD "IRQ Less than equal" relating to RtkHDAud.sys
This doesn’t happen when using the Steinberg ASIO Multimedia or Direct x drivers.
In fact, I found someone else with a similar problem :-
mtippach.proboards40.com/index.cgi?board=Bugs&action=display&thread=1194022694
And another, possibly unrelated:-
www.techspot.com/vb/topic75696.html
This also happens with HD driver 1.61 (haven’t tested with 1.84, but probably wont go below 15ms)
i cannot get decent latencies with 2.8, so i was wondering if you could find out what the problem is which causes this and put a secuirty measure in a4a 2.7 so that it will terminate without killing my pc!!
If i cant get this fixed, then i will have to goto vista, which is rubbish below 10ms playing reaper demo project (my benchmarking test)
I hope that this is enough information. I will check this post regularly to provide more info if you request it.
Fingers crossed for a fix as this driver combination is almost the Holy Grail for Realtek HD cards!!
Thanks in Advance,
Laptopeer ;D
