Hi everyone,
Really hope someone can help out with this as it's driving me absolutely crazy and I've run out of ideas.
I'm now on my third fresh install of XP SP3 and for the life of me I cannot get Asio4all to be gapless when using Winamp!
I've had the same install running flawlessly for the last three years and prior to that. I have also tested this on a fresh install of Windows 7 and found the same problem.
If the Winamp asio plugin is set to output directly to the EMU it is gapless but as has always been the case, unusable due to clicking and stuttering. As soon as I set to Asio4all the sound clears up perfectly but Asio4all seems to pause very briefly between each track and Winamp doesn't seem to cue up the next track as smoothly or as early. I've also noticed the sound glitches when I minimize the Asio4all window. The other "symptom" is that winamp will play a couple of samples of the previous track played when starting a new one. I'm not a 100% sure if it did the latter two things in the in the past or not but the length of the sample sounds to be the same length of the gap.
I've never had to change any buffer settings in Asio4all in the past but have experimented with various configurations all to no avail. I've also tried older versions of Asio4all, Winamp (and Winamp lite) and tried every available asio output plugin for it.
I should probably point out that this all started after getting a particularly nasty virus a month or so ago. The virus is now gone but as I couldn't remedy the problem on the existing HDD I switched to a new one for the fresh install(s) to see if this would help and it hasn't. I've also changed out my graphics card suspecting it was the cause during this time but the problem has remained.
Any ideas/thoughts would be greatly appreciated.
Best Regards,
