I am running a Creative X-Fi Fatal1ty soundcard (PCI card in back, 5.25 drive-bay front panel-- has own ASIO drivers) and I recently was gifted a USB microphone (Blue Snowball) and am using Ableton Live Suite 9.1. The computer has an onboard Realtek High Definition Audio Soundcard installed and operational as well, though my speakers are plugged into the output on my Creative soundcard.
Here's my problem: My Blue Snowball mic is not acknowledged/showing up by Ableton when using the Creative soundcard's ASIO driver. If I select the Realtek HDA device in Ableton, and use the ASIO4ALL driver, then I have my USB mic showing up in Ableton and is usable though I'd have to connect my speakers to the Realtek soundcard output or use headphones plugged into the headphone for the Realtek.
I would prefer to use my Creative X-Fi card without the Creative ASIO drivers but instead using the ASIO4ALL ASIO driver. Can I uninstall the Creative drivers forcing the Creative X-Fi to utilize Windows' WDM/DX driver and then specify in Ableton to use the ASIO4ALL driver, and in the ASIO4ALL control panel, specify the output device to be the X-Fi Speakers, thereby allowing me to use my X-Fi soundcard with my speakers AND my USB mic in Ableton?
