I'm trying to get rid of the latency when using soft synths and digital guitar effects, but I know a lot more about music than about computers and I'm stuck. My soundcard is C-media ac97 audio device, I think on board, and I just can't get Asio4all working. I have some questions. Can I use the on-line panel and, if yes, how do i get there, or must i use the off-line panel? What are the settings i should use? I went through the forum and the FAQ and it brought me some information but I'm still stuck, so some help would be very usefull. Thanks in advance.

hi cees! solving my latency problems with c-media ac'97 was caused by using Asio4All. you've got best chances getting success too, by doing the following (you don't have to spend money on a non-onboard sounddevice): 1. download and install the current wdm drivers for your c-media device: www.cmedia.com.tw/e_download_01.htmfor the onboard drivers, choose your type from the "codec" section on the download-area. (NOT "pci") 2. after installing the drivers, do the following settings at Asio4All controlpanel: buffer size: 272 ks buffers: 2 3. look at your audio/asio settings of your prefered application what the output latency is about. i got a latency of 6ms. that's a great improve to not using Asio4All. now i can play and record my guitar by listening to it simultaneously. p.s. those settings, i made by using Asio4All 1.8 now, i am about to try the new one, which i only downloaded before i read your post.so i don't know, what on-line panel and off-line panel is about. if there are some more news after trying the new version, i will post again!
