I have bought an external sound card which works but dosnt show as an oput device in Sibelius. ony ms gs Wavetable.
My major issue is that the midi keyboard has really bad delay (latencey) and i was advised to get a external sound card instead of using the moutheroard one.
any help?
All i wann do is input notation on my midi keyboard in real time not with a delay!
HELP!!

what program are you using to record in? all i really know is fl studio. i know in fl studio if you record your notes in midi it pretty much bypasses latency issues. from what it sounds like in your case, it seems like they didnt give you the correct drivers for your soundcard though. or you didnt install them correctly. anyways, ill tell you how i record in fl studio through midi. if your not usin fl hopefully this will help you on your program also.
click the record button and when the menu pops up click on the bar that says " what would you like to record" .....click the automation and score button. (or you could right click on the record button itself and check the automation and score buttons) . now when you record youre not recording the actual sounds, youre just recording the data from you keyboard keys. which is helpful in two ways. you can keep the notes that you recorded and change instruments later if you decide that you didnt like that instrument. and furthermore, which is what you're looking for, latency is no longer an issue because you can go to your piano roll and just move the notes wherever you want to and make them fit. if youre not using fl studio, i imagine just about any program would have have similar ways of doing this. although, i do hear that fl studio is the best for midi recording so you might wanna check it out. you will at least need producer addition though to try to record. but whatever platform you use, if your latency is an issue, you want to record midi, and read your manuals or lurk forums to figure out how. in fl studio, i use my computer keyboard as a musical keyboard and i have a latency of about 900 and i record fine with it. after i record i just quantize it and then drag the few remaining notes where i need to. anyways, i hope this helps you out

In Ableton Live, you can disable the Microsoft SW Synth in the section MIDI/Sync in Live preferences (under the audio preferences). Just disable the three boxes (track, sync, remote) of the SW Synth.

This is a very common problem. Microsoft disable the ability to deactivate Wavetable in windows vista and windows 7. I found a simple workaround that worked pretty good. Video: www.youtube.com/watch?v=QsRtduINN8I

I'm yet another person with this issue - no audio output with ASIO4ALL because MS Wavetable Synth is hogging the output channel. However I cannot for the life of me figure out how to disable MS Wavetable Synth! I can see there's an "off" option in some programs, like Ableton, but in FL Studio (my main program) there is simply no option to turn it off. Can someone help, I'm desperate! Is there a way to turn off Wavetable Synth in FL Studio or, failing that, a way of deactivating it in Windows in general? I dunno where to disable it from FL Studio, but you should be able to turn it off from Guitar rig,if you got it. And for anyone, who have problems with asio input-just turn off your recording device (usually microphone) in windows sound settings. It helped me.. Now Input works perfectly, and i can play along with GR4.

Well... I'm going to be honest... I spent 2 hours checking and un-checking different combinations of check marks through out the different audio panels in Windows 7 (Ultimate 64-bit) and I'm not entirely sure what I did... But it started working what seemed like out of no where. I tried every thing in every FAQ and forum I could find, and nothing worked. But I have something others can try and post if it work: right click the audio tray icon and select playback devices OR Control Panel >> Hardware and Sound >> Sound >> Mange Audio Devices On the playback tab select your output device and click on the configure button. Like I said before, I don't know if this was it, but I THINK its the last thing I did right before it started working. (I also disabled it and re-enabled it before that) Now I can have exclusive mode enabled, change drivers, run other audio programs, and I have no issues. ... Good luck.

TROUBLE WITH VSTHOST!(2.1) it seems to appear that, if anybody has an installed keyboard or any other midi output device (which will appear in vst host's midi output list) _and does not power on the device the next time_ vsthost automatically will internally select "gm wavetable synth"(GMWT) as output device, without showing that(!) workaround is to power the device back on and start again(!) because then it is possible to route midi out back to the device. SELECTING "MIDI MAPPING" WON'T WORK! although it shows the selection in the midi output window! it will just be ignored and midi out is still GMWT internally! (i can't remember experiencing such a drag over another software the last time.) shame on VSTHOST. the user interface is the biggest crap i've seen for a long time. (windows 3.1 like(!!)) but you can do it with musicians. although the program does a lot of briliant things at once. on my system, a realtek sound card, it's even not very stable, compared to cubasis.
so, hope i could at least help some VSTHOST users!

I am yet another person with the same issue. Whenever you broach a Steinberg/Yamaha forum about this or any other problem they shove their heads in the sand and suggest it is somehow the users fault. Clearly their is a major issue here. I paid good money for this program and the customer support is almost non existent. The MS GS Wavetable synth maybe the culprit but I cannot change the option in Device Setup there must be another option on the O.S. side of things.

Thanks a lot BLUMI. I was working with ASIO DirextX Full Duplex and the latency creeped me out. I had to mute the output. 10x bro!

For Vista users, Go to Control Panel - Hardware and Sound - Manage Audio Devices (under Sound tab).
Right click SPIF and choose Disable.
Should be good to go!

There is no solution for this, I looked over 100 pages on google and tried everything. Asio4all sucks big time expecially with a fucked up system like Windows. So get a new soundcourd and forget about cheap programs like Asio4ALl.
