this may have been posted before, but i am trying to get Asio4all to run on a Gateway notebook with windows vista. the soundcard is integrated and uses the SigmaTel High Definition Audio Codec.
Asio4all doesnt even recognize the sound card (or driver). I was wondering if anyone knows how to get this setup to work or if theres a WMD driver that can replace the High definition driver, and then see if ASIO4all recognizes that.

Same problem here. ASIO4All doesn't recognize High Definition Drivers. Using Windows Vista 64 bits + Realtek ALC888

I just purchased a Dell with this sound card on it, and vista. I'm trying to use asio4all with FL7, and I can't. I have an M-audio firewire 410, but everyone knows about M-audio and vista. Any solutions?

having the same problem here If you're using the 2.8 Beta, that would surprise me indeed. What ASIO4ALL version are you using?

2.8 beta1 - maybe it is working but i just don't get it - i use acoustica mixcraft v2.51 for recording software & should have the option to record from asio but i don't, and when open the asio i see hda device in 2x44.1-192khz.24 bit and out same thing running now for vista w/ sigmatel high definition audio codec what would be the optimum settings for the asio ?

hello- do i have this right now or not The one I trust you the most with is the -> - bit ;-) I still believe that your problem is solvable and the way to go there IMHO would be to step by step confirm (and set aside) anything that went o.k. in the setup process and only when it goes wrong, supply as much and as accurate information as possible. First, I'd like to know if you've got audio playback to work. This is easy to verify, as even the Mixcraft Demo comes with a demo project that you can just run in order to verify the _output_ is working o.k. Once youre there, it would be worth while to check on the ASIO inputs. For this, you have to click on the button that the Mixcraft creators have labeled "ASIO Mixer Settings" or some such -> which is totally misleading since there is no mixer dialog coming up, but rather the ASIO4ALL control panel. Once you're there, click on "Advanced" and expand the WDM device tree to the left. Report as accurately as you possibly can what you are seeing here or simply post a screen shot!

another silly question - when i do open my device mgr. for sound controllers - should asio show up as a 2nd driver ?? i have no clue about all this I forgot: The answer is: No! ASIO4ALL is a user mode thingy which piggybacks on top of WDM drivers - which, of course, absolutely _should_ show up.

ok hmm - mixcraft has playback- as do playback prefs in windows ( default wave device), it all shows up but in audio recording prefs ( as in mixcraft ) no asio is available i.e. - def. wave -1, mic -2, line in- 3 ,& mic- 4 - sorry if i sound like a dumbass but this vista is all martian to me . as far as in vista device & driver - all it opens to is sigmatel hd codec - no sign anywhere of asio ( piggy back or otherwise) p.s. if i updat ethe st hd driver - it kills all sound & i have to revert back to st hi codec - or even roll back to hi def audio ( w/out the codec) i know this isn't me it's bug ridden ms crap ( as usual) 10 yrs down the road they get it right

Make sure that ASIO4ALL is installed at all by opening the Desktop "ASIO4ALL Off-Line Settings" link and tell me what you see.
- 2.) Launch Mixcraft. From the Menu, select "File"->"Preferences". Make sure "ASIO" is selected, as opposed to "Wave". Once you are there, what do you see?

there is no asio in mixcraft in options ( the whole problem) and in vista audio ( manage audio devices - or device manager ) there is no asio4 all as a separate driver - this is on a brand new gateway 5404
