Hey guys. I don't know if that issue existed in older versions or if it's just normal, but when I'm using the ASIO4all driver (nice piece of software btw ) and I turn the volume of my receiver (Sony STR-DE475) to about 2/3, I can here a high tune (about as high as the B6, 1975 - is that really the frequenzy, cuz it's quite low). I can only here it if using the ASIO4all driver. I don't think the USB-Audio ASIO-driver is already vista-ready, so I cannot confirm that not to be a general issue with ASIO. My System: OS: Vista Ultimate x64 (everything works fine, since 2.8b even my integrated soundcard Sigmatel HD gets detected, before just the Aureon using the Microsoft provided drivers) Soundcard: TerraTec Aureon USB MkII Receiver: Sony STR-DE475 using the multichannel in (connected using 3 3,5-jack-to-2-cinch-plugs cables) greetz Stefan

Here ASIO4all 2.8 beta 1 has slow performance compared to 2.7
I usually work at 2ms (without probs) in my laptop and now I had to raise to 10 or more in order to avoid dropouts. Of course went back to 2.7...I want be really sure is performing well first prior to switching to vista in my laptop.
This is on a Pavillion dv8000 intel dual core 1.6ghz using Windows XP and FL studio.
Tried also on Vista in my desktop (AMD64x2 4gb ram, Audigy) and is no 100% good...but that depends on other things as the kX drivers aren't fully Vista compatible now.
Overall...my concern now is about performance, 2.7 is clearly better than 2.8 no matter the OS
Just wanted to point that out just in case.

Spyro, try this version and tell me if it improves performance for you: www.asio4all.com/ASIO4ALL_2_8_Beta_2_English.exeAlso,try to compare the older A4A v2.6 with v2.7 at 96000Hz and see if v2.6 performs better for you at this samplerate. This particular version of A4A 2.8 performs the best so far at 48kHz (same performance as v2.7 without the dropouts),but at 96kHz it's noticably slower than v2.6. How many sound buffers are you using? 4 buffers works the best for me with the kX drivers and Audigy/Audigy2 cards. Just one thing to note: If you set A4A to use 4 buffers, you get double the latency.FL Studio doesn't show the real latency when using 4 buffers - you have to multiply that by 2.Also note that FL Studio doesn't show the difference between 2ms and 2.5ms.It always rounds it to 2ms. Also, why are you using A4A and not native kX ASIO? You can easily get under 0.67ms (with kX ASIO) on that machine, while 5ms is hard to achieve with A4A at 48kHz. Since your Audigy1 is a 16-bit card (not 24bit as advertised),A4A is of no use to you. You're much better off with kX ASIO. A4A is useful only for Audigy2 and newer cards (if using kX drivers),since there's [still] no native 24bit ASIO support in the kX drivers. By my experience,A4A performs best on integrated motherboard chipsets, where you get latency down to 1ms if you have a good machine.

I mentioned...
I couldn't find settings datas. I guessed that something like config files are stored in Application data folders but I couldn't find. My user name contains 2byte charactors. Is this a reason why I can't save my settings??
Or settings are stored in registry?
Anyway, I hope that my report help bug fix or developping....if creator can understand what I am saying(lol

(First, I am Japanese and I dont have good command of English.) My favorite sequencer was unstable, but after I installed ASIO4ALL 2.8 beta it become really stable. Thank you ! By the way, settings of ASIO4ALL is not saved. I changed setting however, it return to default after I closed setting window. (I pull down the buffer size and turned off 44.1 <> 48 resampling option) Is this a bug or not? Unless you and "kakuyoshi" above are the same person, this is either something happening _only_ in the Japanese version of Windows, or a mere coincidence. What happens if you install the new 2.8 Beta 2, then uninstall and install again? (this will wipe clean the relevant registry keys...) The only place where parameter settings are stored is under "HKCU\Software\ASIO4ALL v2 by Wuschel". This is something which should work on any however localized version of Windows and even with the "Guest" account. Settings are, however, stored individually per user _and_ per host audio application!

What you may be running into might be the "latency buildup" issue in version 2.7 that actually was most likely to occur with rather small ASIO buffer sizes. What would have happened is that _actual_ latency would have increased somewhat over time. This, and there _are_ rumors concerning the Beta 2 performing better due to the removal of the watchdog thread. I can neither confirm nor deny these rumors. I will not comment on the status of Vista driver support concerning _any_ Creative product.

I'll try 2.6 but I think it doesn't worth it since I get pretty good latencies with 2.7 already. In my laptop I have inbuilt Conexant HD and a Behringer mini interface, I use FL at 2ms (both cards at the same time) while mixing music and making scratches in live gigs..zero problems, not a single glitch. In my desktop, in XP I don't use ASIO4all of course, I use the native kX ASIO driver. But in Vista (desktop too, using dual boot here), since the new kX driver is not 100% ready yet its ASIO driver is broken...that's why I used ASIO4all (2.8 beta1) ...it performs good, but not as good as the kX...thats normal and logic...it was just a temporary workaround so it is my fault I reported this. So, in Vista, ASIO4all 2.8 beta 1 performs good. But in my Laptop (WinXP) is bad....I have a constant granulation effect in my USB card (Behringer) no matter the latency. Tried 2.8 beta 1 and beta2, same behaviour, back to 2.7 all smooth again. Sory I haven't explain the fact I'm using two cards at the same time sooner.

Hey guys.
An update regarding my sound issue. That sound only appears if I have a second monitor connected to the VGA-out, so I guess it's just not perfetcly shielded or whatever, but it appears not to be an ASIO4all issue.
BUT I recognized audio-dropout using Beta 2 in Windows XP MCE.
it's like sound=silence=sound=silence... (each pattern about half a second). This dissappeared by using 2.7 again!
Stefan
edit: Almost forgot: this happens using Native Instruments Guitar Rig 2.

I installed ASIO4ALL v2.8 beta2, but the value that I changed was not reflected as well as beta1 by ASIO Control Panel. Add/Remove Programs window and Startup do not have registration of ASIO4ALL, and uninstallation of beta2 is not possible.

Hi Guys,
B2 and B1 gives me headache on a Vista Premium. I have an external audio device attached via USB to the pc. Depending on the work load of the machine there are more or less audible spikes when listening to music (ripped from CD 44.1 and stored in ape). In detail. I start a track, and after 3-5 seconds of playing the distortions show up. When copying a file in background the noise occurrs more often. I have tried different settings in asio4all but i.e. with hardware buffering on, it is much worser. Try and error with option "exclusiv access" to audio device by application leads me not further.
On the same machine with XP MCE 2005 and ASIO4ALL 2.7 it works perfect.
Any ideas?
Have a nice day Michael

I know, I know...2.7 wasn't broke, but I was just curious... 2.8 b2 does work, but I think I can hear a little distortion introduced (of all things) on MIDI output (Is that sensible?) I didn't get a chance to try ASIO audio Input and Output at the same time. Just ASIO Input and MIDI out, before I uninstalled 2.8b2, and re installed 2.7 (and everythings back to normal, and OK ) System: Dell 8250 with standard SB Live! card, Pentium 4 2.4GHz 1.5GB RAM

Hello,
first I have to thank you for this great Software.
I'm working with Cubase SX3 and an ac97 soundcard on my Notebook.
Every Time I'm setting the driver to an latency under 512 I get an Overload.
The 2.7 Version worked well for me.

I just installed 2.8b and my soundcard i/o in cp are not in the order they used to be
So in cubase I have to go to the i/o panel and manually reroute everything for each project. (If I save the i/o preset and reload it in each project this will wipe out the fx on output busses)
no big deal, just a bit annoying cheers
btw my system is fujitsu amilo latptop and echo Audiofire4

using windows vista ultimate and a creative xifi card I get beyond logic for the inputs. is there any workaround to that?

adding to what i posted before asio 2.7 works (recognizing the creative XIFI) while neither 2.8 beta 1 or beta 2 appear to work. Would be great if you could fix this and if you need diagnostics let me know how i can help.
